Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor). While the manuscript is undergoing the peer review phase, the authors will not submit the manuscript to another journal without notifying the Editor.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Guidelines for Authors.
  • The submission file is acceptable both in Microsoft Word (or RTF) and PDF format.
  • Prepare your manuscript for the single-blind peer review. The text is typewritten, double-spaced throughout; pages are in A4 format and numbered, lines should be left numbered in continuum (10-digit numeric system); the text uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed at the end, rather than within the text. Figures should report legends below each figure.
  • Please read this advice and download associated files. The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors has recently published in all ICMJE journals an editorial introducing a new “Disclosure Form for Potential Conflict of Interest”, with the aim to establish uniform reporting system, which can go over the existing differences in current formats or editors’ requests. We at PAGEPress Publications welcome this initiative as a possible uniforming, standardizing way to have this important disclosure authorizing the publications of manuscripts. We are therefore asking you to duly fill in the “Uniform Format for Disclosure of Competing Interests in ICMJE Journals” and upload it on the Web site of the PAGEPress journal your work is involved with or email it back to us, in mind to allow PAGEPress to peer-reviewing your work. The document is in Adobe format, it includes instructions to help authors provide the requested information and the completion procedure is user-friendly. Kindly note that the format have to be completed and signed by each author of the work. We remain waiting for the completed form to proceed with publication. Please be informed that if this Disclosure Form is missing, we will not be able to publish your work.
  • Authorship and Contributorship: All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship according to the ICMJE criteria. Changes in Authorship: If authors request removal or addition of an author after manuscript submission or during the peer-review process, the journal editors should receive a letter clearly explaining the reason for the change. Please note that if your manuscript is accepted you will not be able to make any changes to the authors, or order of authors.
  • Authors should suggest potential reviewers (name, affiliation and e-mail) for their manuscript and/or opposite reviewers. They must be indicated in the field "Comments for the Editor".

Articles should be liberally illustrated with figures and diagrams (colour encouraged). There is no strict upper limit of figures and tables allowed.

A review should clearly describe the search strategy followed (key words, inclusion, exclusion criteria, search engines). Confinia Cephalalgica allows two different types of reviews: narrative review or systemic review, the latter of which must follow the PRISMA Reporting Guidelines, and in the case of meta-analysis, the MOOSE Guidelines.

Brief communications

Brief reports are short articles that deal with: (1) re-analyse part of an article that has previously been published; (2) present findings, or discuss issues of particular interest to the community, but are not suitable as a standard research article; (3) case report or small case series. The reference list should be selective, containing no more than 20 selected references. Up to 3 figures and 2 table can be included. Case reports should adhere to the tenets of the CARE statement. Reports of observational studies should adhere to the tenets of the STROBE statement. Reports of animal studies should adhere to the tenets of the ARRIVE statement.

(3) Case reports generally fall into one of the following categories: Unreported or unusual side effects or adverse interactions involving medications; Unexpected or unusual presentations of a disease; New associations or variations in disease processes; Presentations, diagnoses and/or management of new and emerging diseases; An unexpected association between diseases or symptoms; An unexpected event in the course of observing or treating a patient; Findings that shed new light on the possible pathogenesis of a disease or an adverse effect.

Authors should seek written and signed consent to publish the information from the patients or their guardians prior to submission. The submitted manuscript must include a statement to this effect in the 'Consent' section, as follows: "Written informed consent was obtained from the patient for publication of this case report and accompanying images". The editorial office may request copies of the informed consent documentation upon submission of the manuscript.

Letters to the Editor

A Letter to the editor should be an article that raises issues of general interest to the broad readership of Confinia Cephalalgica. In case of re-analysis of a previously published article or brief research findings, please use “Brief communications” instead. Letters to the editor may be edited for clarity or length and may be subject to peer review at the editor’s discretion. These papers should be up to 1,000 words in length, and no abstract is needed. The reference list should be selective, containing no more than 10 selected references.

Editorials

They are short, invited opinion pieces that discuss an issue of immediate importance to the research community. Editorials should have fewer than 1,000 words total, no abstract, a minimal number of references up to 10, and up to 1 figure or table.

Pros and Cons

Pros and Cons are usually invited by the Editor: However, unsolicited proposals may be considered. Pros and Cons should be composed of two articles, each sustaining opposing or different views. Each article should be up to 2,500 words, tables (up to 3), figures (up to 3) and references (up to 50).
